|  |  Rare Bird of Prey spotted in Sussex
A white-tailed eagle has been spotted in Sussex for the first time in 50 years. The RSPB spotted the bird of prey, which has an 8ft wingspan, at Amberley brooks on Saturday. Experts believe it has been forced south for the winter by the harsh weather in Scandinavia where the bird usually spends this time of year.
Also known as sea eagles, the white-tailed eagle was reintroduced to the Scottish Highlands in the 1970s after being hunted to extinction in the 19th century. They are not known to inhabit any other areas of the British Isles, particularly not as far south as Sussex!
